Introduction

  • Through the R1soft Restore Backups module in cPanel, we have the ability to restore files and databases of a site from a previous date.

Requirements

  • Your hosting package login details.

Steps

  •  Once the control panel is accessed, we will go to the Files section and click on R1soft Restore Backups.

  • In the next window, the R1Soft login page will load. By default, the R1Soft login details are the same as the cPanel login details.
  • We will fill in the fields and click on the Login button.

  • We will be redirected to the R1Soft control panel.
  • From this page, we will have the option to choose a date from which we want to restore files or databases.
  • As an example, we will restore the entire public_html folder of the hosting. We will select the desired date and click the button with the symbol .

  • The selected restore point will be open. Here we can explore a copy of the files from the chosen date. We will click on home to enter the root folder of the hosting account.

  • To restore one or more folders, we will check the boxes on the left of them. After that, using the buttons at the top of the page, we can choose what we want to do with the selected folders: Restore Selected (restore files) or Download Selected (download a local archive of the selected folders).
  • To restore the public_html folder, we will check the box and click the Restore Selected button.

  • We will be greeted with a warning message, informing us that the existing files in the selected folder will be replaced with those from the backup. If we want to keep a copy of the current files, we can rename the folder using File Manager or an FTP client, so that the contents of the folder are not replaced with the files from the backup (for example renaming public_html to public_html_old).
  • To continue, we will click on Restore.

  • The recovery time varies depending on the number of files and their size. At the end of the recovery, we will be greeted with a success message.

  • Next, we will illustrate the necessary steps to restore a database. To do this, we will return to the main page R1Soft, which contains the list of restore points.
  • As with file restoration, we will choose the desired date, but this time we will click on the symbol .

  • To view the databases saved from the selected period, we will click on the arrow ">".

  • Further on, the existing databases will be displayed in the restore point. We will check the box on the left of the database we wish to restore and click on Restore Selected at the top right of the page. The restore will replace the existing database. If we do not want to lose the information in it, we can download a current copy using PhpMyAdmin.

  • The restoration time varies depending on the size of the database. Upon completion, we will be greeted with a success message.
