Introduction

The validation of a .ro domain's data represents a mandatory step imposed by the ROTLD registry (through the adoption of NIS2 legislation) for maintaining the domain's functionality. If this procedure is not completed within the established deadline, ROTLD will suspend the domain, and subsequently, it will be scheduled for deletion. Validation confirms the identity of the holder and the correctness of the data entered during registration.

Requirements

To complete the validation process, it is necessary to provide the documents of the domain holder:

  • Individuals - Identity Card
  • Legal entities - Holder's Identity Card + Company Certificate

Steps

The first step is to access the ROTLD administration page, available at the address: https://rotld.ro/domadmin/.

In the displayed window, enter the email address and password of the ROTLD account, complete the captcha test and check the agreement regarding data processing and the ROTLD rules, then select the Continue option.
ROTLD AuthenticationImportant - If you no longer have the password for the ROTLD account, you can use the Password Reset feature from the same window. Enter the domain name, press Continue, and ROTLD will send a reset link to the email address associated with the domain.

After successful authentication on the platform, general domain information will be displayed in the Home section. At the bottom of the page, there is the Validate Now button, necessary for initiating the data validation.

The last step consists of uploading the required documents. Use the Browse button to select the files and complete the process by pressing the Upload button. ROTLD will analyze the documents and will confirm the validation after processing them.

Important - If ROTLD cannot validate the information and requests an update of the holder's data, it will be necessary to follow the procedure for Modification of Usage Rights. This procedure can also be carried out through Hostico. For more details, please refer to the dedicated article: How can I change the holder of a .ro domain.

Note

  • If validation is not carried out within 30 days from the receipt of the notification, ROTLD will suspend the operation of the domain.
  • After 90 days of suspension, the domain will be scheduled for deletion.
  • During the suspension period, the domain cannot be used or renewed until complete validation.
